It’s a song that no one is expecting and maybe not everyone is comfortable admitting they like but for some reason it moves everyone at the party.
Everyone wants the dance floor pack ed all night at their wedding. The truth is not everyone will like to dance or won’t like the style of music that is being played. It’s impossible to make everyone happy especially with music. If you’re having a younger crowd at your wedding then most likely the older folks will sit out a bunch of the songs throughout the night since the style of music is probably not what they are into.
This is the case at most weddings but not all. There are some weddings where something special happens during the last song of the night and not one person is left in their seats. It’s a song that everyone knows and loves to dance to. It inspires them in such a way that they belt out lyrics like no one is around. This is the kind of song that you want to end your wedding with.
It’s the kind of song that compels people to all of a sudden to make a big circle around the new married couple and sing along and dance to the music. Whatever the song is, this moment will end up being one of the most memorable of the entire wedding. It’s the song people will be humming on their way home. Usually the pictures from the last dance song are pretty good too!
We know music is a key component of any wedding whether you have a live band or dj. After all it provides the mood and tone on one of the biggest days of your life.
DJs and sometimes the bride and groom will carefully plan the type of music that will be played at their wedding. They spend a lot of time doing this to ensure a good experience for the guests. There are always things to consider and one that gets easily forgotten is the last song.
Think about it. How much thought have you put into it?
At DJMC, we have never had a wedding where the last song was not a big deal. It’s the last chance you have to get those guests who didn’t dance all night to finally get up and see the bride and groom off properly.
The song needs to be uplifting and makes you want to move. Think Pharrell’s “Happy” for example or “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra. People should want to sing as loud as possible and move their arms up in the air.
A lot of times at weddings the last dance can be one of the most emotional. Just take a look around the room and you will see so much happiness on the face of your guests as the big day comes to an end in such a nice moment. Wedding planning is stressful and expensive but at this moment you will realize all the work to have the wedding of your dreams has paid off.
That’s why putting some effort into choosing a final song is important. The last thing you want is for the end of the wedding to feel dull and unconsidered.
